Afterpay is bringing accessibility to Web3 and NYFW
Afterpay is leveling the playing field by bringing New York Fashion Week into the metaverse. Accessibility is at the core of its mission, and this extends as the company proceeds into the Web3 space. This means keeping the future of retail in mind while embracing new-found experiences and prospects.
The leading ‘Buy Now, Pay Later’ platform has teamed up with innovative, forward-thinking designers to offer NFT “Keys” available at Keys.NYFW.com. For the first time, individuals can mint these “Keys” by paying the $100 USD in four instalments using Afterpay. Proceeds will be donated to Free Arts NYC, bringing art and mentoring programs to children in underserved communities in New York City.
The groundbreaking designers showcased in this project included ALTU by Joseph Altuzarra, AnOnlyChild, Jonathan Simkhai, Kim Shui and The Blonds. Afterpay has welcomed fashion enthusiasts from all over into the blockchain while unlocking IRL access to New York Fashion Week.
Each designer drew inspiration from their Spring/Summer ’23 collections to create their unique NFT, alongside a selection of limited edition products or traditionally unobtainable NYFW experiences.
ALTU by Joseph Altuzarra Each consumer received a special edition tote and an oversized t-shirt. The brand also offered an annual membership to one of New York City’s premiere art museums.
AnOnlyChild This brand gave out an exclusive invite to AnOnlyChild NYFW after party or a limited edition belt bag.
Jonathan Simkhai Customers were given a private meet and greet shopping experience with Jonathan or original, signed runway sketches from his new collection debuting September 13.
Kim Shui Consumers received a custom-designed hoodie incorporating Kim’s signature dragon motif or tickets to her runway show on September 12.
The Blonds With each purchase, consumers got an exclusive invite to The Blonds’ NYFW after party or a signed copy of “The Blonds: Glamour, Fashion, Fantasy” forthcoming book.
Going a step further, Afterpay has also released its first-ever free NFT in a limited quantity, so that any consumer can mint a digital collectible on the blockchain while unlocking utilities like a TIDAL HiFi Plus Six Month Free Trial, access to an NYFW close-friends Instagram group, and an invitation to RSVP to NYFW: The Talks sessions. Both the designer NFT Keys and the free Afterpay NFT will be hosted on the Polygon network, considered the greenest chain on the block.
